Are you wondering if journaling is for you and looking to learn the benefits of journaling? Are you hoping it can transform your life and help you grow closer to Jesus? If so, this blog post is for you.
I started journaling again six years ago. But to explain the benefits of journaling, I need to take you back to the beginning with the little pink journal.
The Little Pink Journal
As a kid, my middle school teacher gave me my first journal. I journaled the pieces of my life that felt heavy. The agonies of not being raised by my biological parents, social workers coming in and out of my life, and the pain of being abused.
The hurt that filled my tear-stained journals was my voice when I didn’t have one. My journals were my refuge when I was without one, my strength when I had none, and my hope when all felt lost. I found Jesus in those pages. Even when I didn’t know him yet, he was there.
It has been many years since I wrote in the little pink journal, but after the biggest heartbreak of my life a few years ago, I started journaling again to cope. I journal daily now.
Since journaling again, I have gained so much insight into the benefits of journaling, and I want to share those benefits with you.
Journaling Benefits
If you are still wondering if there are benefits from journaling, according to the University Of Rochester Medical Center, keeping a journal helps you create order when your world feels like it’s in chaos. You get to know yourself by revealing your most private fears, thoughts, and feelings. Look at your writing time as personal relaxation time. It’s a time when you can de-stress and wind down.
1. Journaling For Clarity
Journaling gives clarity when you are struggling. It provides a space to write out your emotions freely without judgment.
Sometimes, we have to see things on paper to better grasp the situation we seek clarity on.
2. Journaling For Peace
Journaling provides peace, especially for someone who struggles with anxiety. (If you are wondering who that person is, it’s me!) But if you are in the same boat as me, hi!
Journaling for anxiety helps you process your anxiety, write out the worst and best-case scenarios, and realize that most of the time, the worst-case scenario won’t even happen.
Plus, journaling is super therapeutic.
3. Journaling For Self-Discovery
Journaling is a great way to discover yourself, what you want out of life, and what you desire for yourself. It’s a great way to reflect on your past and what you want for your future.

4. Journaling For Jesus
Journaling is an excellent way for Jesus to become your best friend. I write “Dear God” in my journals, which are my letters to God or, as I like to call them, my “Jesus Pages.”
It’s a place where Jesus and I meet, and he helps me clarify my mind, allows my soul to check up with my body, and lets the overwhelming peace he provides wash over me.
Allow the pages of your journal to become your “Jesus Pages,” and allow God to meet you there. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Conclusion About Journaling
Whether you are a beginner or have been journaling for a few years, journaling has many incredible benefits. Journaling can help you find clarity in a situation, help you find peace when you are anxious, help you discover yourself, and also help you grow your relationship with Jesus.
And one finally thought: Journaling is more than just a book with white-lined pages and a pretty cover. Journaling is where you find hope, healing, and Jesus. Allow your journaling to become your Jesus Pages and a place for rest.
