Journaling Prompts To Grow Your Relationship With Jesus

Faith/Encouragement

Are you looking to grow your relationship with Jesus, but are struggling with where to start? Here are 7 journaling prompts to grow your relationship with him.

To grow your relationship with Jesus, I first need you to picture this.

Picture Taken at Butter & Bean, Lancaster PA

Picture This:

You arrived at a coffee shop, frustrated from the long work day, just wanting some of your favorite coffee to warm you up from the rain that seems never-ending outside.

As you walk up to the counter to order your coffee, you see journals out of the corner of your eye.

You haven’t written in a journal in years, but those journals catch your eye. You walk over and pick one and decide as you wait for the storm to pass, you will write in your journal, as you enjoy your cup of coffee.

As you scope out the coffee shop for the perfect seat with your journal and coffee in hand, you see a seat next to the fireplace, and you decide that’s the perfect place to write. You quickly sit down and open up the journal to uncover the white, crisp lined pages.

You look at the page and decide instead of writing a “Dear Journal” like you did as a kid,  you will write “Dear God,”.

Dear God isn’t something you are used to, but it seems right. You tell him about your day, the frustration of life, and the hopes and dreams you desire.

All of a sudden, the storm has stopped and the barista tells you that the coffee shop is getting ready to close.

You have written for 3 hours and don’t even know how it happened.

Jesus allowed you to have a space to meet him, a space that felt safe and welcoming. A space just for the two of you.

That’s what I want journaling to be like for you. A space for you and Jesus.

If you are struggling with meeting Jesus,  below are 7 journaling prompts to help you grow your relationship with Jesus.

Journaling Prompts

  1. Where has God shown up in your life already?
  2. What is that one thing you want God to know (or maybe more) about your life right now?
  3. What are the ways you see God in your life?
  4. How can you trust that God has a plan for you?
  5. How do you know when God is speaking to you?
  6. Tell God your favorite Bible verse and why it’s your favorite.
  7. What are prayers  you want God to know about today?

Conclusion About Growing Your Relationship With Jesus

Growing your relationship with the Lord doesn’t need to be hard, difficult, or frustrating. It can be fun, exciting, and even adventurous.

Journaling allows you to hear God, write out your frustrations, and it allows God and you to have a space to talk even if that’s through pen and paper.
