(I wrote this piece for a class I was taking at my church. I wanted to share this devotional with you! If you are wanting to grow your relationship with God and learn how to use your own puzzle piece God has given you, read on.)
A little over a year ago, I was sitting in church, overwhelmed after receiving old birth records of mine. As the worship music played, so did my anxiety over a sentence in a surgical report.
I knew this report had to be one of the missing pieces of my puzzle. It was to be a link to my symptoms; I just needed someone to help me.
As the worship music continued playing and people found their seats, Wendy sat right behind me. I thought she could read my report since Wendy works in an operating room. I quickly told her about the report and displayed the information on my phone.
She looks at me and says, “I don’t have my glasses.”
I thought, “And I don’t have my sanity right now, but we have to get it together.”
North Carolina, Anyone?
After she read the report, she agreed that I needed to have the concerns in the report looked into. Wendy connected me with a doctor in North Carolina. And, the next thing I knew, I was in North Carolina accompanied by Wendy to have surgery.
From the findings of the surgery, I was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition that affects some of my organs. Without the surgery, my condition would never have been discovered. If Wendy and the doctor didn’t use their God given gifts to help me, I would still be missing my puzzle pieces. All those pieces fit together to give me a much needed complete picture.
God’s working all this together reminds me of the verse,
What if Wendy has been too busy or distracted that Sunday to help me with the report?
What if the hospital had put aside my tests in order to attend to someone or something more important?
God loves the idea of sacrifices and working all those sacrifices together for good.
We all have puzzle pieces to share with the world. You may be the piece that someone else needs.
How can you use your puzzle piece today?
Make sure you are looking at the world through the lens of God- He can show you how your own puzzle pieces fits in to make His beautifully finished work of art.
