Have you ever felt that way, that you care too much?
Maybe something is wrong with your workplace, and you want things to be better.
Maybe one of your relationships feels like a struggle, but you’re not sure why.
Or maybe you just know you need to grow, and it feels tough to know where to start.
Something in the world needs to change, and it’s eating you away inside.
If you can answer yes to any of those questions, we are now friends, and you are not carrying that feeling alone, because I’m the same way.
I am deeply hurt when things are wrong, or people have been wronged.
More importantly, I hurt even more when it’s done within Christian environments.
The Backstory
Recently, a situation came up in which I was deeply hurt by some situations that were brought to my attention, and the situation escalated.
It upset me, and I cried because I didn’t understand how things got to where they were.
When I prayed about this situation and how to act, I felt like the Lord told me you care because no one cared about you in your time of need.
You want wrong to be made right, peace when there is discomfort, and freedom when there is betrayal.
But what do you do when your heart feels like it’s bursting at the seams?
When do you feel that something needs to be done?
1. Take It To Jesus
Jesus will never steer you wrong when hearing your hurts, grieving with you in your sorrows, and being upset with you in your “righteous anger.”
Just as much as you are upset, he is upset, too.
2. Talk To Someone You Trust
Having someone you trust, like a therapist or mentor, to help you process your feelings regarding whether it is something you should act on or not.
I rarely act on situations, but when I do, it’s because I feel led by the Holy Spirit.
This does not mean I let things go to by the wayside or that I don’t care. It means I’m trusting God.
3. Advocate When Needed
God has given us the ability to advocate when needed.
And if you reach out regarding whatever situation you are in, and the other person isn’t responsive, at least they know your heart.
It doesn’t mean it’s a loss or that truth wasn’t spoken, but now it’s time to let God do the rest.
Sometimes, we feel like we care too much, but it might just be the way God created us to be, and nothing is done in the dark that isn’t brought to light.
