Devotional: Believing In Ourselves

Faith/Encouragement

Sometimes, we struggle with believing in ourselves and even sell ourselves short. For a few weeks, I have been developing a shop for my small business so customers can buy online.

Now, if you know me in person, I am not tech-savvy. Computers break even when I look at them, or at least that’s how it feels.

However, I decided to develop a little shop that matched my business colors, logo, products, and checkout section and linked it to my blog. Well, after many tears, prayers, and googling searches, I managed to develop a shop without breaking the computer. It was indeed a miracle, at least in my eyes.

And to think, I didn’t know I could do it because I didn’t believe in myself. Yes, I dedicated days of my life to developing my little shop, but in the end, I did it, and in just a few days, and it is now live!

Completing my little shop got me thinking of the story of Moses in the Bible.

The Store Of Moses

Moses didn’t think he was a good speaker because he struggled with speaking, which reminded me of my struggle with computers.  In Exodus 4:10:13,  “Moses says to the Lord, “Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent — either in the past or recently or since you have been speaking to your servant — because my mouth and my tongue are sluggish.” The Lord says to Moses, “Who placed a mouth on humans? Who makes a person mute or deaf, seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?”. The Lord says to Moses, “Now go! I will help you speak and teach you what to say.”

After a bit of protesting, Moses and his brother Aaron spoke. Aaron was Moses’s voice, but God told Moses what to say. Moses used his voice. He moved past his fear and stepped into what God called him to do (what I like to call “his calling” in my small business).

So when you struggle with believing in yourself or wanting to sell yourself short, remember that God has already given you the ability to do it; yes, it may take googling searches and prayers, but if God calls you to it, he will see you through it.
